Bath rituals are an amazing practice to incorporate into your self-care routine, and for those of you who like to connect with the energies of the moon, this post will combine the love of bath rituals with the full moon, helping you to create a beautiful full moon bath ritual you can enjoy every month.

Before we discuss how to create a full moon bath ritual, we should discuss the basics of the full moon energy. I have a full blog post outlining this topic, with ways you can harness the unique energies of each moon phase, but to be sure we understand what energy the full moon brings, let’s start here.

WHAT ENERGY DOES THE FULL MOON HOLD?

The full moon is a time of releasing, washing away, and letting go of all the old and toxic things in our lives. This includes:

  • Old habits

  • Old thought

  • Old patterns

  • Old beliefs

  • Toxic people and relationships

You simply take your awareness to all these areas that are toxic and no longer serving you for your greatest good, and mentally and physically release them, with certain practices like a bath ritual.

WHAT IS A BATH RITUAL?

A bath ritual is a practice, or simply put, a new habit, that you create with things that encourage relaxation and a sense of calm, during a specific time each day, week, month, etc.

Bath rituals are gaining popularity because the element of water is so incredibly healing for a variety of things we suffer from.

Water represents cleansing, a washing away, and as we’ll be discussing, a release of things we no longer want to carry with us.

Just as a shower physically cleanses the body, a bath ritual is meant to cleanse your mind, body, and spirit of the very things we want to release and wash away.

CREATING A FULL MOON BATH RITUAL

Now that we’ve outlined what energy we want to embody when the full moon comes around, and how a bath ritual can coincide with those intentions of releasing and washing away all the old, to make way for all the NEW we want to create in our lives, it’s time to create a beautiful full moon bath ritual.

This will be different for each person, but here are some ideas you might want to incorporate into your very own full moon bath ritual:

Depending on what your bath set-up looks like, some things on the above list might not work for you. For instance, if you have a deep soaking tub, you might be able to incorporate a bath tray and floor candles all around. If you have a built-in tub in your shower, you can utilize fresh eucalyptus around your shower head and create an enclosure around you with your curtain.

SCHEDULING YOUR FULL MOON BATH RITUAL

Knowing when the full moon will be taking place is important, as you will want to make sure you do not overcommit to your schedule, so you have plenty of time to enjoy your bath ritual.

Most planners will list when the new and full moons are, and you can download a number of apps on your smartphone that will let you know what phase the moon is in, including a calendar function that will show you when the next full moon will be.

You’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy your full moon bath ritual, and I suggest doing it at the end of your day. Emotions and feelings may arise that you’ll want to sit with and work through, so having something scheduled after it might be tough.

CONCLUSION

We are all wanting to have a life that we love, and learning new habits that will bring us closer to those things is so beneficial.

Full moons happen once a month (in some instances, twice a month), and learning this new habit, or ritual, will help clear away the things that aren’t working in our lives, in order to make room for the things that ARE working, and that will get us closer to all things we desire for ourselves.

I hope this post gives you some much-needed insight into a full moon bath ritual and lends you some new tools to add to your self-care treasure chest.
